Snow Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. (SHVFD) was established in 1897 after a huge fire devastated much of the downtown area. In 2007 we celebrated One Hundred and Ten years of serving our community! Snow Hill is a town of only about 2500 people, but our Fire/EMS area is one of the largest in the State including many more hundreds of families. We respond to an average of a hundred and fifty fire calls and over eleven hundred ambulance calls a year. Like many areas on the Shore, we are growing and our call volume continues to rise.we also provide mutual aid assistance to Wicomico County,MD and Somerset County,MD and sometimes Accomack county,VA. The Company can have sixty-five active members on the roster and ten Cadets. We also provide a full-time ALS / EMS service to our community, fielding three ambulances with eight full time employees. Volunteers also still provide much needed coverage in this respect as well.
