ARCHIVE 2007

These are photos of the last three accidents we responded to in 2007. There were thankfully no serious injuries.

We had a control burn on Market Street, 11/19/07. The two story house had wires close to the front and concerned neighbors on either side, so water curtains were utilized as well as several control lines from three trucks. R-1 and 401 kept the scene very well lit. All went well.

On 11/11/07 we were dispatched to an accident back in the Pocomoke Forest on Sand Road. The lone female occupant lost control and hit a tree. Check out the image where you can see the roof inside. The patient was blessed to be alive! The second set occurred 11/16, car verses telephone pole off Mt. Olive Church Rd. Driver a priority one.

Here are photos of two accidents the week of Oct. 26th. The first four of a night 10/50 with a single vehicle and the second three photos of a rainy day slide and flip on 113. The driver self extricated and was able to walk away.

Yet another accident at Rts. 113 and 12 this one in very bad fog, some of which is evident in the photos. First a tractor trailer ran into the back of dump truck, overturning the dump truck and jack-knifing the Tr.tr. Then another car with four people inside, struck the back of a parked Tractor trailer on the scene. Then another car with one pt. hit them. All were transported with the truck drivers priority ones.

The first two pictures are of a two car collision on Rt.12 One refusal and two pri.3 patients were transported. The next set of the photos are from a two vehicle accident on 9/27/07 at the intersection of 12 and 113. Truck verses a MAC bus. There were several serious injuries and 13 people transported all together! The last three photos are of a 10-50 down the rd at 113 and Public Lndg. Rd. three cars involved, two pts. transported a priority 3 and a pri. one.

We are having a busy week (9/26/07)! These pics are from a single auto accident on Rt. 12 towards Girdletree. The car went out of control, ending on it's roof. The single person was airlifted out by Trooper 4 and ended up in Shock-Trauma in Baltimore with serious injuries.

An ambulance call turned into a need for Trooper 4 and a landing zone when a Priority One Patient needed quick transport. A tree had fallen on the man while he was cutting brush on his tractor back in the woods. Pt. was flown to Shock-Trauma in Baltimore for serious injuries.

Our company was called Sept. 4 to assist Newark with a working fire at the Wor. Co. Developmental Center. The building was fully involved and before it was over, Responders came from Berlin, Ocean City and our 401 and T-4 as well as Newark itself to control the blaze. Fire companies were on the scene about four and a half hours in total.

We responded to a car fire on Whiton Road in the afternoon of August 31. The car was fully involved on arrival but being fought with an extinguisher from MSP. It was quickly brought under control, there were no injuries.

The first four photos are on August 18th, we were toned out again for an accident at the junction of Rts. 113 and 12. Three patients were transported to the hospital, and thankfully, once again, injuries were minimal. The rest of the photos show an overturned tractor-trailer on 113 and Market Street south. The driver walked away.

This is our eighth 10-50 scene so far this month involving a total of twelve vehicles. This particular accident occured 7/23/07 and involved a single vehicle, leaving Rt.12 and striking a telephone pole. Fortunately, the patient had only minor injuries.

Yet another serious accident at the intersection of Rts. 12 & Rts. 113. This one involving three vehicles on 7/18/07. Two patients were transported to PRMC. This remains a very dangerous section of highway!

We have been having many accidents on three corners coming out of town onto Rt. 113, even since it has been duelized. This one on 6/24 involved two automobiles and three people were transported. All with minor injuries.

On 6/19/07 another 10/50 on Public Landing Rd. and RT. 113, with 2 vehicles with several injured. One priority one patient was flown out by Trooper 4. The next set of photos are from a smoke investigation on the 18th at the Courthouse.

Sunday June 17th, we were toned out for another 10/50 at Rt. 113 and Rt. 12. There were 2 vehicles with eight people involved, 3 of which were transported to the hospital.

These photos are from our May Drill, this first set are of a session with lifting, using our airbags and cribbing. The trick is to lift off the structure evenly using supports to stabilize it, so that work can go on around or even under the structure, SAFELY...

Also during the same Drill, another crew gets used to operating the new Tanker, drafting from a small gully, piping the water uphill. Here the water is dumped right back, but on a real scene would then be transported or pumped to the fire.

We were called out for a 10/50 with personal injury on May 19th in front of MacDonalds on Market Street. There were two Priority three patients transported. The first two photos are of that.

We were dispatched to a 10/50 with entrapment at Rt. 12 and Red House Road on 5/7/07. The vehicle had rolled and though the occupant was not seriously harmed, the Mechanism of Injury (MOI) was great and the patient had to be extricated. The Paramedic here is Bryan Dykes, not long after these photos, deployed to Iraq.

On 4/27/07 we were dispatched for an MVA with entrapment on Rt. 113 near the railroad tracks and Bay Street. There were three patients, including an infant. You can tell by the pictures that it was a wet rescue, the car knee and hip deep in water and deep mud. All the patients were transported safely to the hospital after the difficult extrication. It was a wet road, and the car slipped down the embankment backwards coming to rest without much external damage.

The First four pictures are from a shed fire at Furnace Town on 4/18/07.

On 4/8/07 we were dispatched to the Old Lumber Mill on Rt. 12 for an outside fire. Arrived to find a shed on fire and adjacent field, smouldering. Units 401 and Tanker 4 were onscene and staging. Brush 404 advanced and quickly extinguished what fire was left.

We responded to 3 10/50's this week. One on 4/5/07. (2 pics)Two car collision with personal injury on Rt. 13 and Public Landing Rd.
The next 5 photos are another 10/50 at Rt. 12 and Rt. 113 on 4 /12/07, a two car collision also with personal injuries. The 3rd was not photographed.
