Sept.4th we were called out to Rt. 113 and Timmons Rd. For a two car MVA with injury. One driver rear-ended a stopped car waiting to turn. There was one extracation and two pt. transports to PRMC. As soon as this happened there was also a local medical call, using all three of our ambulances at once. Another close call on 113, as both pts. were not seriously injured.
In the last ten days of July we resonded to three more accidents on 113. Two at Public Landing Rd. and one at the Rt.12 crossover. All were two vehicle accidents, some with serious injuries.

We Responded on July 7th to Rt. 113 North of Bay Street for an accident between a Van and a Tractor-Trailer. The van crossed the line and the head-on collision caused one unfortunate fatality, and one pt. refusal. Our prayers are always with these families who lose loved ones.

Recently we joined with Girdletree, Stockton & Pocomoke for a control burn of a multi-story Chicken house. Good Practice since we often help each other out.

On June 13, 2009 we were called to the Worcester County Jail for a car fire. We arrived to find a single vehicle fully involved in the parking lot. There was no one inside, and no injuries reported. The fire was quickly controlled and extinguished. As you can tell, the auto was a total loss.

We responded to a motorcycle accident on Furnace Town Rd. and Greenbriar Swamp. Motorcyle missed the curve and struck a guywire and tree. There was one pt. who survived only long enough to get to the hospital.

Here are pics from two accidents the last week of May; one, in broad daylight, two cars involved again, on 113! Pts. transported and the other, at night, a car vs. Tanker on Rt. 12, no injuries, but this was a close one!

On 5/20/09 We were toned out for a two vehicle accident on Rts. 12 and Public Landing Road. This has always been a trouble spot just like two roads south at Rts. 12 & 13. There were three pts. transported in two Ambulances. None in serious condition.... this time! Check out the sign in the last pic... Also; if you come upon an acc. PLEASE, pay attention to the Fire Police directing traffic, it's for your safety and OURS!

On 5/12/09 We responded to a single vehicle accident on Whiton Road. There was only a single occupant. The Pt. did not need to be rescued from the car after landing off the road in the field, but did require transport to the hospital. This is another good example of how wearing a seatbelt can save your life!

On 5/8/09 one of the motors to the grain mixers caught fire inside the building. Pocomoke's Tower responded, and access could also be had inside. The fire was under control in a very short time. There were no casualties.

There are two vehicle accidents on different nights back in the Pocomoke Forest. All the occupants were all right. The last one was Jan. 31st of 09.

We responded to a fully involved structure fire at 301 Ross St. the evening of Nov. 13th. Heavy smoke on all floors. We got the fire under control and did what overhaul we could under dangerous conditions. There were floor collapses and holes on both floors. Many of these pictures are of our return when the second floor rekindled while the fire Marshall was there. Many thanks to neighbor Meme Suznavick for the great photos!

On Sept 17th there was a morning 10/50 at Rts. 12 and 113 with two cars involved. Patients were transported, but with no serious injuries and then a field fire in the afternoon which was quickly extinguished. Later was a more serious 10/50, but we have no photos.

We responded to a call for possible fuel spill in the morning of Aug. 18. We found an auto off the road in a cornfield with no occupants. Evidently, the car had gone off the road early in the am, hit an enbankment, knocked enough dirt in the field to flatten corn for 25' X 8', flip and mow down another ten rows before coming to stop on its roof with massive mechanism of injury (MOI) possible. MSP investigating.

On Aug. 15th. We were dispatched to an early morning (0500) vehicle fire in close proximity to chicken houses. When we arrived the truck was fully involved. Dispatch also reported a possibilty of live ammo in the vehicle. The fire was quickly brought under control without further incident.

EMS was dispatched to Shad Landing State Park for a patient injured in the pool. The patient was stabilized and backboarded in the water. Fire Fighters set up a landing zone and then Trooper 4 and one of our EMT's delivered her to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

On 7/11, there was a two car MVA when traffic slowed for farm equipment. A Nissan was rear-ended with a 7 mo. pregnant pt. on board. Just they were transported and the last three pics are of a two motorcycle accident on July 12, near Furnace Town, with one Pri. 2 Transport.

On 6/30 we responded to a car fire on Rt. 12 near Millville Rd. the truck was fully involved. There seemed to be a lot of equipment and fuel in the bed. The fire was quickly brought under control and traffic was not held up too long. There were no injuries.

Once again, 6/15 we were sent to Rt. 113 and Public Landing Rd. for a serious two car accident. The white Yukon with two passengers T-bones the silver Villager with one. Extrication was very fast and the driver of the Villager was a priority 1 and flown out by Trooper-4. The other two transported themselves.

On 5/9/08 we were dispatched to a residential structure fire which turned out to be an abandoned house. And then on 5/23/08 we responded to an MVA, car verses building. there were no serious injuries to persons or property.

Friday May 2nd. We staged a mock car crash for the students of Snow Hill High School. Most of our cadets participated in the two car collision. There were 5 fatalities and two transports with one drunk driver arrested. We hope this will save some from the real deal.

On 5/2/08 We responded to a 10/50, overturned truck with injury. The pt. was trapped in a truck on its side and needed extrication. One Pt. was taken to PRMC with serious injuries.

April 21, we control burned a Chicken house near town

Sunday morning the 20th of April we were dispatched for a fully involved structure fire on Washington Street. The pictures here show the tail end of that call and the overhaul we perform to keep the fire from returning. People may not understand that Fireman sometimes have to damage some parts of a structure to find the hiding fire and embers that may rekindle. The fire was brought under control very quickly and property was saved, there were no injuries.

On April 16th we were toned out for two calls at once, a 10/50 and an outside fire with exposure to a structure on Taylor Rd., Norman Tarr's farm. The fire was contained and under control in a very short time. The 10/50 was minor and is not shown here.

Later in the afternoon of the fifteenth there was this three car MVA in front of the Vo-Tech Center on Rt. 113. Newark responded and we assisted with two more amubulances to transport five patients to PRMC with a wide range of injuries. (at the same time our 3rd Ambo was called out for a "sick subject")

Early on April 15, we recieved another Gas Leak call on the same street, this time a two inch main was ruptured. 405 and 401 ran hose lines to the scene with the Paramedic unit standing by. There were no injuries.

On 4/13/08 a backhoe hit a gas line on South Washington St. We responded, evacuated 2 homes and secured the leak with no furthur incident. This was our 43rd call for the year to date.

On 4/4/08 we responded to a two car accident on Rt. 12 & Whiton Rd. One vehicle was rear-ended and totaled, the other, the Suburban, was hardly damaged. We had one refusal and one Pri. 3 Transport.

On 3/26/08 were were called first for ALS response then Rescue, for a two vehicle head-on collision on Rt. 12 in Girdletree. Alcohol was a factor. Two persons walked away and two died. One on the scene and the other, who was flown to PRMC and then to Baltimore Shock/Trauma, several days later. Thanks to Mary Dick from Girdletree EMS for the photos.

On March 27th we were dispatched for another MVA but this time on Rt. 113 and Public Lndg. Rd. Two cars involved with serious damage to vehicles but patients faired better. Quick response time had traffic flowing again in short order.

The two On duty Paramedics were working when they heard the collision at the intersection of Rt. 12 and 113. Leaving to investigate before we were toned out, they discovered a two car MVA with two adults and a child. As you can see, the door and car seat took the brunt of the impact. The adults were refusals. The child was transported to PRMC and later across the Bay.

We were dispatched on March 12 for a single vehicle accident with one patient. The Toyota, though on its wheels - had rolled. Pt. was out and walking on arrival. Night pictures not very good; if anyone wants to donate a good camera for night shots, that sure would be nice!

On 2/21 we responded to an MVA on Rt. 12 and County Line with two vehicles. One had rolled into the woods and another on its roof. Two patients with minor injuries were transported by Salisbury Units on the scene. The second four pictures are of a manure shed fire on the 24th. No injuries reported and minimal damage.

On 2/16/08 we responded to a single vehicle MVA on Rt. 12 & Slim Chance Ln. The single occupant was out of the vehicle and did not need to be transported.

On 1/26/08 we responded to a head-on MVA with injury on Furnace Town Rd. This Suburban had hit a patch of ice on the shaded road and struck a large pine tree. The unfortunate result was a fatality. You may be able to see by the interior it was a long difficult extrication. Trooper 4 responded as well and transported the Pt. to PRMC. Next 3 photos from a fender bender on the 28th.

1/22/08 was the Cadet drill where they were able to practice patient extrication from a 4 door sedan. The roof was flapped twice to give everyone a chance, and all the doors removed in a very good practice session in prep. for the real deal. Different tools and techniques were used with stresses on communication, resourcefulness and safety.

The 1st four photos are from a 10/50 on Rt. 12 on 1/7, our first MVA in 2008. There was one patient, standing in the truck on our arrival. The front window was removed so she could be extricated and transported to PRMC. The truck had to be stabilized before any entry attempt could be made. The 2nd set are from St. Lukes Rd. 1/15/08. No serious injuries to one pt.
